
Main Differences Between Seamless and Welded Steel Pipe
1.Manufacturing Process
Seamless steel pipe
Made by heating a solid steel billet and piercing it to form a hollow tube,no welding seam on the pipe body.
Welded steel pipe
Made by rolling steel plate or steel strip into a tube shape,then welding the longitudinal or spiral seam together.
2.Strength&Pressure Resistance
Seamless pipe:Higher strength,better pressure resistance,good roundness,less risk of leakage.
Suitable for high pressure,high temperature,and critical applications.
Welded pipe:Strength is slightly lower at the weld seam;generally used for medium/low pressure.
3.Wall Thickness&Size Range
Seamless pipe:
Can produce thicker wall thickness,larger outside diameter,and heavy-wall tubes.
Size accuracy is relatively lower.
Welded pipe:
Mostly thin to medium wall thickness;
better dimensional accuracy,smoother surface,more uniform size.
4.Cost&Production Efficiency
Seamless pipe:Higher production cost,longer process,higher price.
Welded pipe:Higher production efficiency,lower cost,more affordable price.

6.Appearance
Seamless pipe:No weld line visible.
